Rusal confirms Azerbaijan plan
In light of statements in various media about the alleged beginning by RUSAL of the construction of an aluminium smelter in Azerbaijan, the company has issued a statement clarifying its position.RUSAL has made no decision to build an aluminium smelter as of now. The Company is indeed interested in the opportunity of constructing a smelter in the Republic and is currently in negotiations with the Government of Azerbaijan. RUSAL is also working on preparing a preliminary feasibility study based on which we should decide on the appropriateness of this project. The feasibility study should be complete by the end of 2006.
