Russian plastic production up 12%
Russian plastic production was up by 12% in the first half of 2006, compared with the first six months of 2005. Figures for polymers produced in June 2006 were 17.6% higher than in June of last year and May 2006 was up by 14.1% on 2005.The statistics, produced by Rosstat, show that 46,000 tonnes of plastic articles were produced over the first half of 2006, 27,000 tonnes of polymer films, 1300 tonnes of thermoplastic sheet, and 19,200 tonnes of glassfibre-reinforced plastics. The production of plastic articles plastics increased by 5.4%, polymer film articles by 13.3%, and polyvinylchlorides by 2.6%.
